#Where is the command key on a mac powerbook g4 install#
I have been beating my head against the wall about this but luckily only for about 2 hours today, LOL! I read about this little fakeout prior to today, when I actually decided to try to install on my G4 Silver & 1GB/RAM & an old ass ATI Rage128 w/32mb, yikes!Īt the present, it is at almost one 3rd done. The T key forces the PowerBook (FireWire) (and reportedly the Power Mac G4 (AGP Graphics), though I was unable to verify that on my machine) to start up in FireWire Target Disk Mode, which is essentially the modern equivalent of SCSI Disk Mode and enables a PowerBook (FireWire) to act as a FireWire-accessible hard disk for another Macintosh.

For those with 667Mhz PowerBooks (Or possibly other Macs that don't work with LeopardAssist):ġ.) Place the 10.5 Install disk in your drive.Ģ.) Restart your Mac (don't use on the installer on the disk)ģ.) After the chime, hold down COMMAND+OPTION+O+F until you see a light gray screen with black textĤ.) let go of the keys and type in the following commands EXACTLY as shown, and hit the RETURN key after each line (you will see an "ok" confirming what you typed was correct):ĭev 867000000 encode-int " clock-frequency" propertyĭ# 867000000 encode-int " min-clock-frequency" propertyĭ# 867000000 encode-int " max-clock-frequency" property Macs up through the Powerbook G4 1.33 GHz, and at least some desktops up to and including the same vintage, and maybe a few later pre-Intel PPC Macs (not sure why not all the pre-Intel PPC Macs), will boot SOME USB drives from USB 1.1 and 2.0 ports/drives into OS 10.4.x (at least 10.4.6 and above-I didn't try earlier versions)-NOT OS 10.3. My setup is as follows - Xcode 3.2.5Mac OS X 10.6.6and here are the target properties - My Client is using PowerBook G4 12'.
